What is ngc 588?

NGC 588 is an open cluster located in the constellation Cassiopeia, approximately 5,400 light-years from Earth. It was discovered in 1786 by William Herschel and is primarily composed of young blue stars. The cluster has an estimated age of around 70 million years and spans about 7 light-years across. NGC 588 is relatively dim and can only be seen with a moderate-sized telescope.
